"But Mummy I didn't mean to tell him Maddie like Shannon!"

This just came through my tumblr dash and ti reminded me of a story my sister told last time she was home. She has two daughters in year one (step-sisters, not twin sisters). Gyp is a bit of a tomboy. Se has trouble making friends. The boys don't like her coz she's a girl, the girls don't like her coz she's a tomboy. Maddie is a popular girly-girl. Gyp's had this friend Zane for years and he's totally in love with her. Then she had this boyfriend, Tyler. One day Tyler was mean to her (I think he called her a bitch?) so Zane followed Tyler around for a weeksaying 'Now you don't be mean to her!'. And once, last year, when a year six boy was mean to Maddie, Zane went and punched this kid. He was twice Zane's age! My girls may not have a big brother to beat up the mean guys for them, but at least they have Zane.
